The best Christmas parties aren’t the most complicated ones. They're the ones where someone else does all the organising, cooking and washing up for you. A straightforward menu that covers everyone's preferences, on a single booking, with a clear price. Yes, you'll still have to do some work, and yes, you'll have to make a list of what everyone wants on the night (with special requests covered), but then you can sit back and take credit for the party you planned.
STEP 1: SORT THE DIETARY NEEDS UPFRONT
Every team’s got a mix: the ones who’ll eat anything and the ones with a list of requirements as long as your arm. Someone’s vegan. Someone else is gluten intolerant. Someone doesn’t do coriander. You don't want anyone to go hungry, and nobody wants to be an afterthought.
You can try to get around everyone, run a poll, avoid food altogether, OR just pick a Christmas menu that covers all the bases with crowd-pleasing dishes and drinks.
STEP 2: NAIL YOUR PARTY NUMBERS
There's a lot of chat about Gen Z killing office Christmas parties, so get them on side by keeping it upbeat, low-key, and with plenty of low-alcohol options. You don’t need exact numbers when you book, but you need to be pretty close. You'll usually have a bit of time to firm up your guest numbers before deposits and pre-orders are due.

The best venues and the best times are first come, first served, so the sooner it’s on the calendar, the sooner it’s off your to-do list.

Book for Christmas as early as you can, ideally in September or October. December dates, especially Fridays, go first. Thursdays are a good option too.
